MILAN: Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus will be suspended from the Champions League this week, according to media reports in Italy.

The three European giants are facing disciplinary action following their plans to form the European Super League.

They insisted that they had the right to form new competitions and claimed that UEFA as well as FIFA had no right to block.

Of the 12 clubs taking part in plans for the tournament, only Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus remain despite other teams having withdrawn after it was disbanded.

The other nine clubs are AC Milan, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City, each apologizing to UEFA and promising to contribute £ 12.9 million to grassroots development.

“Those who should be afraid are Real Madrid and Barcelona. I don’t want to imagine the Champions League without them but it can happen,” said La Liga president Javier Tebas.
