BERLIN: England winger Jadon Sancho scored the winning goal to take Borussia Dortmund to the German Cup semi-finals after beating Borussia Moenchengladbach 1-0.

The winning goal came after the visitors launched a counter-attack in the second half of the quarterfinals at Borussia Park.

Dortmund ended with 10 men when midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud was shown a second yellow card in injury time.

“We fought until the last minute. That was our foundation now, down with a different energy.

“Not everything is going well, but we are still not conceded,” said Dortmund captain Marco Reus ahead of the Bundesliga action against Bayern Munich leaders Saturday.

It was a frustrating night for Gladbach operator Marco Rose in front of his future employer.

Gladbach has lost all four games, including 2-0 at the hands of Manchester City in the Champions League, since Rose was announced to leave the club at the end of the season to coach Dortmund.

“That single mistake led to defeat and I have to praise the opposing team for their performance,” Rose said.
