PORTO: Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says their season is still considered a success despite being disappointed with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea in the Champions League final.

City clinched their fifth Premier League title in 10 years this season, Guardiola’s third domestic title since arriving at the club but still desperate to lift the Champions League trophy.

It was City’s first appearance in the final stage of the European elite championship and despite being disappointed by Kai Havertz’s lone goal, Guardiola remained happy with his side’s efforts this season.

“I want to say it was an incredible season for us. It was our dream to be here, unfortunately we didn’t win.

“For most of us at this club, this is our first time here, but we will strive to come back.

“It was a tough season with the pandemic, but we learned from it for the future.

“I respect the players, they poured everything, and we will be back stronger. Congratulations on a proud season,” Guardiola said.
