LONDON: All England football stars will have to undergo a heart attack test to reduce the risk of falling on the pitch as happened to Denmark’s Christian Eriksen.

According to sources, the Football Association (FA) of England has ordered tests to be carried out on all players before the Euro 2020 competition begins.

They will not be allowed to perform unless they pass the examination

electrocardiogram (ECG) examination to check for unusual conditions in the period between the last one year.

In addition, players will also have to undergo a detailed echocardiogram scan test over the last two years.

“Now it is policy to regularly monitor the heart health levels of senior England players, including all players of all ages,” the source said.

In addition, all England team medical staff will also need to have a football emergency and trauma management medical certificate.

It means, medical officers will be ready to act to save lives in the event of a player collapsing or suffering a serious injury.

The precaution was taken after the incident that happened to Bolton’s Fabrice Muamba who collapsed during the FA Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur in 2012.
