BERLIN: Borussia Dortmund midfielder Edin Terzic made his first appearance with a win early this morning after captain Marco Reus scored a late goal to secure a 2-1 win over Werder Bremen.

38-year-old coach Terzic replaces Lucien Favre, who was sacked Sunday less than 24 hours after being beaten 5-1 at home by Stuttgart.

“It is important to rise to victory after a severe defeat,” Reus told Sky.

“After changing coaches, the players realized they themselves were disappointing the team.

“We got up to face it and I hope we are back on track.”

Terzic has a contract until the end of the season and inspired Dortmund’s first win in four league games while Bremen are now going through four games with defeat.

“It’s important to show resilience,” said Terzic, who is also Slaven Bilic’s assistant at West Ham in 2015-17.

Dortmund took the lead in Bremen when Raphael Guerreiro exploded after 14 minutes of play following Jadon Sancho’s early attempt.

Bremen equalized in the 28th minute when Josh Sargent took advantage of a mistake made by Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji and channeled the ball to finish Kevin Moehwald.
