MANCHESTER: Cristiano Ronaldo’s number seven jersey has been a favorite of Manchester United fans since it was announced he would return to wear it.
Ronaldo, 36, is expected to make his Manchester United debut this season in action against Newcastle on Saturday.
Old Trafford was attacked by fans today who wanted to get the legendary United jersey after he returned to the club from Juventus.
In just four hours after Ronaldo was announced he would be wearing the sacred number, online sales recorded the highest number in a day for any sporting goods outside of North America.
The club’s online sales are handled by Fanatics, which also works with over 300 sports clubs around the world.
In the Fanatics network, Ronaldo is now the best -selling player in the 24 hours since his return to the English club.
He overcame the moves of Lionel Messi from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain, Bryce Harper to the Philadelphia Phillies, Tom Brady to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and LeBron James to the LA Lakers.
