PARIS: Cristiano Ronaldo once again scored a late equalizer to save Manchester United in the Champions League just moments ago as his former clubs Juventus and Bayern Munich each ensured progress to the last 16.

Ronaldo exploded from inside the penalty box in injury time to give United a 2-2 draw against Atalanta in Italy and were on track to advance from Group F.

The top scorer of the tournament before that equalized before the end of the first half following an early goal by Josip Ilicic.

However after losing Raphael Varane to injury, United fell behind again in the 56th minute when Duvan Zapata ran the ball and overtook Harry Maguire before blasting home a goal.

The goal was initially not awarded due to offside before being allowed after seeing VAR footage but Ronaldo blasted an equalizer which was also the ninth in 11 appearances since returning to Old Trafford and 139th in the tournament.

“We believed until the end. I helped my team get one point,” Ronaldo said. “We never gave up, I think it was a good decision for us.”
