MANCHESTER: Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in his second appearance for Manchester United to help his side jump to the top of the English Premier League (EPL) with a 4-1 win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo needed just 47 minutes to open his goal account with United after 12 years away from the team.

The 36 -year -old, who was signed from Juventus, blocked the ball from close range to give the hosts the lead late in the first half.

He added his second goal after an hour of play through a left-footed finish, erasing the visitors’ equalizer contributed by Javier Manquillo in the 56th minute.

Bruno Fernandes widened the gap with a long-range shot in the 80th minute before Jesse Lingard completed United’s stylish victory with a fourth goal in injury time.
