PARIS: Kylian Mbappe has confirmed he has applied to leave Paris Saint Germain (PSG) at the end of July following a failure to move to Real Madrid.
The 22 -year -old’s contract has only 12 months left and he will become a free agent at the end of the season after refusing to sign a new contract.
Speaking to RMC Sport, Mbappe confirmed he wanted to leave PSG in the middle of last summer to give the team time to find a replacement.
“I asked to leave because since I didn’t want to sign a new contract, I wanted the team to accept a transfer fee to get a quality replacement.
“The club has done me a lot of good, I’m happy for four years to be here and I’m still happy.
“I announced earlier so the team had time. I said that if the team didn’t want me to go, I would stay here.”
However, Mbappe denied he turned down some offers and was furious when some claimed he insisted on leaving the team in the last week of the transfer window.
