MUNICH: Germany coach Joachim Loew insists his men are able to absorb the pressure when they need to seal a victory over defending champions Portugal, at midnight tonight Malaysia time to turn on the chances of reaching the Euro 2020 knockout round.

The 0-1 defeat at the hands of France left Germany with no choice but to win over Portugal which sealed a 3-0 victory over Hungary in the opening match.

If they fail to beat Portugal, it will put Loew’s men in the danger zone of being eliminated from the group stage, thus repeating the black moment they experienced during the 2018 World Cup campaign.

However, Loew is confident that his line -up will be able to rise and beat Portugal.

“The pressure is always the same, no matter who the team we meet. We are able to absorb that pressure. We have to play better, we didn’t create a lot of chances against France and that’s what we’ve been improving over the last few days.

“We need to get into the opposing team’s goal area more often,” Loew said.

Loew is expected to make changes in the starting line -up with striker Timo Werner likely to replace his Chelsea team -mate Kai Havertz who failed to stand out during the match against France.
