MILAN, Italy: Liverpool have won all six of their Champions League games after beating AC Milan 2-1 and knocking the Italian club out of European competition for another season.

Fikayo Tomori put Milan in need of a win and hoped the result between Porto and Atletico Madrid was in their favor, ahead in the 29th minute of action at the San Siro.

But Liverpool quickly responded through Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi put Jurgen Klopp’s side ahead with a header 10 minutes after the break.

Liverpool, playing without some of their key players, finished Group B with 18 points, the first English club to collect that number.

“It’s an incredible performance … with so many exchanges, the players have to be confident enough to show how good they are.

“I saw a lot of good things tonight, it’s unbelievable,” Klopp said.

Serie A leaders Milan, who had to play without strikers Ragael Leao and Ante Rebic, finished last place after Atletico won 3-1 at Porto to be second behind Liverpool.

The defeat saw Milan fail in their attempt to advance to the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time since 2013 and also lose the chance to play in next year’s Europa League.
