LIVERPOOL: Jurgen Klopp lamented Liverpool’s failure to translate dominance into goals as Real Madrid tied them 0-0 in a Champions League quarter-final rematch at Anfield.

The result saw Real Madrid advance to the semi-finals with a 3-1 aggregate victory.

Mohamed Salah and Georginio Wijnaldum squandered a chance to repeat the resurgence when they beat Barcelona 4-3 after trailing 3-0 in the first semi-final two years ago.

“We didn’t lose tonight. We lost in Madrid but even if we drew 0-0 there, we will definitely still play because we can’t score.

“Indeed, this is our performance this year. We have been through some Premier League games here where we failed to take advantage of opportunities.

“We know how many years Mo Salah can perfect such an opportunity by turning a blind eye, but not this time,” said Klopp, who now has to hope for a place in the top four of the league to qualify for the Champions League next season.
