PARIS: Lille created a six-point gap over title rivals Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 earlier this morning with a 2-0 win at Metz.

They currently lead the French major leagues with 69 points from 32 games while PSG collect 63, Monaco 62 and Lyon 61 ahead of this weekend’s game.

Veteran Turkish striker Burak Yilmaz opened the scoring after an hour while compatriot Zeki Celik blasted home a second after Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan saved Metz’s penalty.

“We started the game shaky,” Lille coach Christophe Galtier said.

“We failed to grab the ball. The desire to play well caused us to be in a hurry and waste opportunities. Mike helped us by saving the penalty.”

Yilmaz put on a great experience when confusing the Metz goalkeeper before kicking hard into the corner.

As they continued to search for the second goal, Celik exploded after receiving a pass from a corner kick in the 89th minute.
