LONDON: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is confident a crucial clash with Chelsea will take place on schedule tomorrow despite the latest three positive COVID-19 cases in his camp.

Klopp declined to reveal the names of the players as they are still awaiting test results but striker Roberto Firmino and goalkeeper Alisson Becker are not in the training pictures released by Liverpool.

The action at Stamford Bridge is crucial for both teams who are increasingly desperate to chase down league leaders Manchester City who are eight points ahead.

“We have three positive cases in the team and a few more staff so it’s not good for now. I can’t say who because we have to go through the whole process, PCR testing, but you’ll see it in the roster later.

“We’ve never had 15 to 20 players infected simultaneously. It’s like waiting for a lottery result. It happens every day, one case after another.

“Right now we are not applying for a postponement but we don’t know the situation in a few hours,” said Klopp, whose squad is currently third in the Premier League, one point behind Chelsea.

In addition to the three COVID-19 cases, Takumi Minamino and Thiago Alcantara will not be playing at Stamford Bridge due to injuries.
