MILAN: Federico Chiesa scored twice as Juventus gave their first defeat to Serie A leader AC Milan in the league this season.

The 3-1 win ended Milan’s 27-match unbeaten run, but Stefano Pioli’s side still led the league with a one-point advantage over Inter, who lost 2-1 at Sampdoria.

AC Milan have not lost since the curfew due to COVID-March 19 last year – 12 games last season when finishing sixth and 15 games this season.

Chiesa, who joined Juventus from Fiorentina last October, scored his first double in the 18th and 62nd minutes for the defending champions at the San Siro, with Weston McKennie completing the win 15 minutes before the end of the game.

“This defeat hurts. If any opponent ever hurt us, it was Juventus, who won the Scudetto nine times in a row.

“But understanding how bad you feel after losing will help us grow,” Pioli said.

Meanwhile Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo said: “I see the spirit of a team that wants to lead and win. This match is important to us.”
