MILAN: Matteo Darmian scored the game’s lone goal to put Inter Milan closer to the Serie A title with a 1-0 win over Hellas Verona this morning while coach Antonio Conte labeled the win as worth “nine points.”

Achraf Hakimi gave space for Darmian to score the winning goal in the 76th minute at the San Siro.

Inter are now 11 points ahead of Atalanta, who advanced to second place after a 5-0 win over Bologna, with five games remaining.

AC Milan are two points behind in third place before they face Lazio today.

“Today’s win is not just worth three points, not six. It’s worth nine,” Conte said.

“We are now 95 percent heading to the Scudetto. We still haven’t won but we’re getting closer.

Juventus are currently on the same points as AC Milan but fell to fourth place after being tied 1-1 at Fiorentina.

With five games left, last season’s runners -up Inter could clinch their first Serie A title since 2010 as early as next weekend.

Conte’s side are tied 1-1 in the previous two games against Napoli and Spezia.
