MADRID: Eden Hazard’s 94th-minute equalizer allowed Real Madrid to tie Sevilla 2-2 and La Liga title rivals back in favor of Atletico Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane’s Real had earlier equalized through Marco Asensio and thought they got a penalty when Karim Benzema was brought down.

But the VAR asked referee Juan Martinez Munuera to examine the incident of Eder Militao touching the ball with his hand during Sevilla’s previous corner kick.

Instead the referee awarded a penalty to Sevilla and it was completed by Ivan Rakitic before Hazard equalized.

“They need to explain the real rules regarding hands to me.

“But now we are thinking about the next match. It is not in our control but we will fight to the end, to the death,” Zidane said.

After Barcelona and Atletico drew 0-0 at the Camp Nou last Saturday, their position at the top of La Liga has not changed with three games remaining.

Atletico are now two points ahead of Real Madrid and Barcelona, and the chances of winning the La Liga title lie entirely in their hands.
