MADRID: Antoine Griezmann led Barcelona to bounce back after the Catalan squad beat Granada 5-3 in extra time to advance to the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.
Barca looked set to lose in Los Carmenes when Granada led 2-0 with two minutes left in real time but Griezmann scored one goal in the 88th minute and helped for another goal by Jordi Alba to equalize in the 92nd minute.
Griezmann headed in to allow his side ahead in extra time but Granada equalized through a Fede Vico penalty.
However Frenkie de Jong’s goal and Alba’s volleyball, which was also produced with the help of Griezmann, allowed Barcelona to advance.
Enrique relieved Barca a big win; avoid criticism from critics
“It was a great show, a clash to grab a beautiful trophy,” Griezmann said.
Ronald Koeman admits the Copa del Rey is his team’s “shortest route” to grab the trophy this season with Atletico Madrid now 10 points on the La Liga stage and Paris Saint-Germain will be waiting in the Champions League which will definitely pose a big threat to them.
