LONDON: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang blasted a hat-trick as Arsenal edged Leeds to a 4-2 win at the Emirates earlier this morning.

Aubameyang did not start the game almost a month after being quarantined for visiting his ailing mother abroad.

“This hat is very meaningful for me,” said Aubameyang. “It simply came to our notice then.

“Many love me, my mother and my family. I have to thank everyone at the club and the supporters.”

The Arsenal captain had previously only scored five league goals throughout the season in a disappointing match for the Gunners, but he used his advantage against Leeds to create his first hat-trick in the Premier League this season.

Aubameyang opened the scoring with a low kick in the 13th minute overcoming French goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

He then completed the penalty after Bukayo Saka was brought down while Hector Bellerin beat Meslier in the corner to make it 3-0 before the end of the first half.

Two minutes into the second half, Aubameyang completed a hat-trick with a header from Emile Smith Rowe.
